The XYZ is the third generation of Thomas Meyerhoffer’s futuristic longboard design. Thomas’s theory was to make a lighter, faster and livelier longboard by removing unnecessary area.
The design has matured into a performance machine ready to take on any kind of wave. And while it paddles and glides with the ease of a regular longboard, it’s fast, fluid and surfs like a significantly shorter board. The XYZ is designed for intermediate and advanced surfers.
OUTLINE: The iconic side cut in the center shortens the rail line and minimizes the amount of board connected to wave when turning, essentially raising the front of the board out of the water. In this case, less surface area makes for a faster board. The rounded rear platform allows for tighter turns and quick rail-to-rail action in critical parts of the wave. The tear-drop tail outline adds hold and bite on the wave face, and the wide, squared-off nose makes for easy nose riding and increased paddle speed.
BOTTOM: Deep double concave with aggressive vee running out by the side fins increases acceleration and speed when driving off the bottom. Single concave up front assists with extended nose riding. Rolled vee and soft rails through the narrow center delivers fluid and quick rail-to-rail transitions.
ROCKER: Relaxed rocker in the front of the board encourages traditional hang time on the nose, and a performance rocker that accelerates through the tail lets the rider perform steep drops for aggressive top to bottom surfing.
Carbon Vector (CV) construction delivers unmatched performance by harnessing the flex characteristics of epoxy and the strength of carbon. CV combines a stringerless, high-density custom shaped EPS core laminated with biaxial fiberglass, epoxy resin and a distinctive carbon fiber webbing, (positioned on the bottom and around the rails).
The carbon fiber webbing serves to evenly distribute tension across the entire surface area of the board to produce a lively, yet controlled flex pattern with remarkable memory recall. The biaxial fiberglass on the deck serves to add strength and also help prevent delaminating. CV boards feel fast, light and highly responsive in all conditions.
